ARTIST STATEMENT

I live in beautiful McElmo Canyon near Cortez, CO and am surrounded by earth elements that provide a show of infinite inspiration. With paint as my best friend, I miss it when I don’t play with it. I use the brush and many textural materials to achieve the effect within my work to explore the space of form and spirit. In an environment of unity, harmony, shape, balance, opposites, color and texture, I seek to express the mystery of the natural world and my relation to it. My work is intuitive in response to my life and the medium. I am drawn to an abstract style which allows for spontaneity and less control so that the paint may have a life of it’s own. The mystery is what will come from the deep nothing and become something that will raise my spirits like the sunrise or shimmer like a rainbow after the storm moves through. The act of painting is actually a reflection of the Art of Living in the World and it is an opening to my life which reflects the Joy of Watercolors!
